An engineer by profession, a musician by passion and an author out of compassion, Sudipto Das, an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, is a veteran in the semiconductor industry, a violinist in the band Kohal and the author of the historical fiction ‘The Ekkos Clan’. Born Bengali, but residing in Bangalore for almost two decades now, his exposure to different cultures, languages et al. have indeed affected his reading habits. Thus, his list of reads in the year 2016 is a reflection of his likes in the non-bookish world, top few of which are given below:

  1. Mightier Than the Sword: Jeffrey Archer, 5th of the Clifton Chronicles,
  2. Flood of Fire: Amitav Ghosh,3rd of the Ibis Trilogy,
  3. Mohammed Rafi, God’s Own Voice: Dhirendra Jain
  4. The Gene, An Intimate History:  Siddharta Mukherjee
  5. Aryabhatiya: Aryabhata (No wonder Aryabhata plays a big role in his next novel, to be published soon)
  6. Dr Zhivago : Boris Pasternak

PS: There are so many books I have read and liked this year itself. It was with great difficulty I could shorten my list to six. Just couldn’t go any less.
